My name is Ben Brandt, I make things and share their stories on video.

As a child, I grew up in a family of artists and builders, and acquired a love of technology and computers. This combination of upbringing and interests helped me develop an artistic eye, a technical mind, and a love of working with my hands. This all eventually led me to get a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Some years later, I drew upon my passion for technology to transition into the field of software & web development. As a home owner and father, I enjoy taking the DIY approach to solving everyday problems whenever I can. I've slowly built a modest shop, adding tools when the project could justify the expense.

I enjoy making things regardless of the materials or disciplines involved. Back in college, I enjoyed the luxury of having access to a full machine shop, 3D printer, and more. These days I work with what I have access to, which tends to be woodworking or electronics, and the occasional metal project.

I've learned so much over the years from YouTube and the internet as a whole. In early 2015, I started discovering "maker" channels on YouTube and got hooked. It was content that I enjoyed, was inspired by and could relate to. Before long I jumped in and started making my own videos. I saw YouTube as a great way to take what I was already doing in my spare time and share it with a broader audience. Sharing with and getting to know the larger maker community has been a pleasure, and a fun way to stretch myself and my own skills. I don't claim to be an expert in any specific area, but I enjoy continually exploring and trying new things, and learning as I go.

Thank you for taking an interest in what I do. Want to get in touch? Feel free to comment on my YouTube videos, my Instagram posts, or contact me here.
